AAT10 - Exploring Painting - for Beginners & Intermediate
Tuesdays at 10:00am till 1:00 pm, 8 weeks x 3 hrs

An introduction to oil or acrylic painting and techniques. Choose your own subject matter,style and technique of painting to paint a portrait, landscape, still life, abstract or mixed media painting or painting project .
The sessions will focus on:
Choosing your subject matter and genre of painting style
Learning elements of design and composition and structural elements of your painting
Developing different underpainting techniquesthat create depth in your painting.
Understanding and developing different shades and highlights
Understanding the concept of tonal values to create strong compositions
Understanding the colour wheel and colour mixing and your palette to achieve your mood of your painting.
Direct and different painting approach techniques using different brushes and other mark making devices.
Experimenting to create details and texture using gesso and mediums and/or mixed media techniques.
Learning about different painting movements in art history and contemporary painting techniques
Complete one to two paintings according to your pace and skill level
*Suitable for beginners to intermediate and experienced artists. No previous art experience necessary.
Students who use oil paints are encouraged in using linseed oil and odourless solvent for cleaning brushes.
A materials list will be emailed to the student once booking has been made.
